We find out in four days if we're having a boy or a girl, and I'm nervous.
Let me preface this by saying, of course the health is the most important. And the baby will be sweet and precious, no matter what the gender. And since we want five kids and this is #3, we still have lots of chances.
Now, let me say that we really hope this baby is a girl.
I've got two darling boys, and a part me feels like they are as perfect and beautiful as any boy could ever be. I'm nervous I won't be able to love another little boy as much as I love these two! All the older moms around reassure me that this isn't the case; as soon as that tiny person is put in your arms, you love him. (Or her, for that matter.)
I sure hope that's true!!! Plus I also feel if I don't get the experience of raising a daughter, I'll be missing something. The sooner I get my girl, the sooner I can stop feeling anxious with each pregnancy. (Because, let's be honest, I'm not stopping at five if I don't get my girl. I'm THAT determined.)
Nothing guarantees a girl, but we tried not to leave anything to chance. We practiced Dr. Shettle's method for gender conception, having sex on certain days in certain positions. But we didn't leave it at that. Nope. We also followed the Chinese gender calendar, waiting for the right month for a girl. Since it was right with both of my boys, maybe it will be right for a girl!
Then again, maybe not. A reflexologist at my gym checked the bottoms of my feet, said I have no bumps, and am thus having a boy. An astrologist checked my star chart and said it's a boy. And there are seven baby boys being born in my church congregation this year. Who am I to break the trend?
Just a few more days.
Votes? What do you think we're having? Any natural selection things work for you?

I know how you feel after four boys I finally got my girl. *sigh* I wish pink on you!
I wish pink on you. I have a boy and a girl. We didn't do anything special. Thanks for visiting my blog :)Good luck!
I'm glad I didn't know my third child was a third boy until the moment he was born. Because at that point, after labor and all the emotion that goes with it, you're just happy to have the baby out! I think if I'd known before hand I would have suffered disappointment and I'm sure my son would have felt it. I would've hated to have him sense anything other than the complete and utter love I have for him.
Number four for us was a girl! With my first three I knew I had conceived on the day I ovulated, so this time I waited a couple days. The thinking is y chrom sperm are stronger and make it to the top faster, so giving the egg a couple days to travel down gives the x chrom sperm a better chance. It worked for us.
Still I went into labour convinced we were having a forth boy, again not wanting to allow a spirit of disappointment to fall on my child. I was so convinced, I didn't even look for the sex when she was born. I was startled when everyone started shouting, It's a Girl! I started bawling.
oh Elle! What a sweet story! We knew all that about the sperm stuff going in (that's the Shettle theory)and the last time we had sex was three days before I o'd (before getting pregnant, obviously). But even then...it's only 60%! So we'll see!
But I see that both T. Anne and Elle had three boys before getting a girl. That may be me as well!
Thanks for coming over, Christine! And thanks for hoping for pink, T. Anne and Christine!
wow, I've never heard of the Shettle theory. Very interesting. Hope you get your pink wishes! If not, though, I'm certain you will find lots of room to love another boy. You're too good of a mom NOT to.
My first child was a boy, and then I had my girl. She was born exactly on her due date since we knew when she was conceived. My husband had been home on leave one weekend in six months. Then I had another boy.
My last pregnancy, they did an amnio and told me it was a girl. I'm big on symmetry so I was thrilled. In the delivery room they told me it was a boy and asked if I had a name picked out. I said Elizabeth. They looked at me.
I wish you a happy, healthy daughter or son. You will love either. :)
aaww....! I hope it's a girl for you!! for me, everyone kept telling me I was having a boy because of this or that. I was fully convinced I was giving birth to a boy. Hubby and I even started on names for boys and forgot about Emma (a name I picked for my first daughter since I was a teenager). My mind was set for when I went to find the gender. The ultrasound tech told me it was a girl, and I was really shocked!
I love my baby girl and now I want the boy!! We have been trying ever since we could do the nasties. Judging by my infertile crappy body, we decided we might as well start now. Keep your fingers crossed. We want that second baby right away.
Oh LMJ, I'll hope for you! If this baby is a boy, we'll probably get right to work trying to conceive our girl! Clock's ticking!
Thanks, Elisa!
Sarahjayne, I can't believe the amnio was wrong! I thought those things were 100%
Sending you loads of pink vibes from across the ocean - good luck! A friend of mine had 5 girls in a row... and the sixth was a boy. Maybe you need to go for six? :)
Maybe, Talli! Maybe six should be our magic number!
What an honest post! I DESPERATELY wanted a girl and ended up with another boy. We did the only thing we could possibly do to guarantee a girl...we adopted one!
Lindsey Petersen
Good for you, Lindsey! As soon as we are in a bigger house, we want to get licenses again for foster care. I know I can always have a foster daughter. But I just want to see what my husband and I look like in a girl!
have you tried the needle test? that was the most accurate for me!

not too serious i hope
Oh, you are too funny! I have one of each and I have to say I'm shocked by how different genders are. Or maybe that's just my kids!
I actually knew what each of my kids was going to be, pretty much from when they were conceived. I know it sounds weird, but I just knew long before I had any tests done.
Your book dream is coming true. I hope your baby dream does too :)
needle test? no! Not too familiar with that one!
I hope so, Solvang! I knew with the other two that they were boys. And I was absolutely certain this one was a girl. like giddy, smug, so content that we did it. And then people started telling me it is a boy b/c of this and this and this...now I'm all confused!
We'll see who's right in a few days!
I hope you get your girl. :)
needle test: hold the needle over your belly - if it twirls it's a girl. if it rocks, it's a boy. or something like that. check it out on youtube. there are videos. it worked for me!
