How I Became a Belly Dancer

I'm obsessed with fitness. I generally go to the gym six hours a week, and Zumba is one of my favorite workouts. I headed out today, wearing a new gym top that a friend gave me, feeling pretty good because I can finally see glimpses of my figure-before-baby.

I think I know why my friend gave this top away. We had no sooner started our hip-rocking dance moves before my top started climbing. I tugged it back down and waved my arms as we went around in a circle. When we faced front again, I saw that my top was above midriff. Yep, above.

At that moment, I evaluated my options: tug it down every two minutes for the rest of class, or practice my belly dancing moves.

At least it's a smaller belly than it was a month ago... (that's not me, by the way. Yeah. I wish.)

Ever had articles of clothing attack you? What did you do?

The ones that attack me are usually attached to the kids.

I have skirt that sits fine as long as I'm not carrying a bag. As soon as I have a back-pack on, or my satchel, for some reason it climbs up and bunches around my waist. I'm sure it got almost to my ass one time, before I noticed it! Not a pretty sight! Luckily I usually wear leggings under it.

LOL, Kate! I have evil skirts like that too.

Em...attack of the kiddos clothes.

Clothing doesn't attack me--calming detergent keeps them under control.

Oh I've had a few of those moments where my friends gave away a top but didn't bother to tell me why. I just figured they saw the poor college kid that needed a new shirt. Little did I know they had alterior motives to just get rid of the 'show it all' booby tops.

lol Jen. yep. fooled again!

Tamara, you made me laugh today. I have a few shorter shirts that ride up in the back when I ride my bike. My daughter sits behind me and tells me that my back is showing. It is usually about 1cm...then she ends up holding it down so that no one can see my back...she cracks me up every time!

Had my boobs fall out of a sports bra while running on the treadmill once. Yeah, that was a pretty sight. That can only happen to those of us who have nursed. =)

hahaha, great story. I'm so envious that you can work out 6 days a week. *sigh* some day, right?
I've had shorts that like to work themselves up over my belly button during soccer practice. That's annoying. You get a wedgie and just run around with a fabulous butt outline. :)

some day, Amber! I only work out 3 days a week. I just do it for 2 hours each time.

I've had a few things that chaffed my skin. I have one shirt that I LOVE (it's sooo cute) but can only wear it on a short run, because my arms will be burning if I sweat too much in it.

Rock that midriff, it IS belly dancing after all ;)
