Compound that with the fact that he can't pronounce any consonants after the letter 'm'.
So the other day we were in the car driving somewhere, and he said, "Look at that dumptruck."
You'll understand why my husband laughed so hard.
But that story was a complete tangent. I want to talk about the simple, kind gesture of saying 'thank you.'
The other day I was in the fast lane, zooming along, when a big semi-truck to my right put on his signal. I think the semi in front of him was going too slow, and he wanted over. The car in front of me sped up, making it impossible for the big guy to get over. I uttered a sigh of tolerance and slowed down. I waited, my entire attitude radiating annoyance, while the trucker came over.
He got in front of me and flashed his brake lights at me in the universal Morse code for 'Thank you.'
That simple gesture changed my attitude. Suddenly I felt warm and silly inside, as if I'd done him a great service. The rest of my drive was peaceful and smooth, with me still living off of the residue of gratitude.
Really, it can't get much easier than flashing your brakes at someone.

It makes me feel really, really good. I try to keep a poker face, but when I put a lot of energy into something and don't hear Thank You, I feel a bit bummed.
So, I really mean it when I say Thank You for a timely post.
I think it's fabulous. And this is a great example of how easy and simple it needs to be. Just. Say. Thank. You. It doesn't hurt, and it'll make someone else feel so much better. (and probably you'll feel happier in the process!)

I was driving the other day when a man stopped his car in front of me (without warning of course), delivered no apology, or thanks (that I stopped my car in time).... and yes, he just drove off. And "They" comment about women drivers.
It really does change your entire outlook. Makes you feel like you did an amazing service to the world by letting that one person in front of you. 9 times out of 10 I don't get a wave, but it's that 1 I remember.
PS your son sounds hilarious! My sister growing up had the same problem!
I always try to wave a 'thank you' to anyone who stops to let me pull out in front of them from a driveway or side street. I figure saying thanks is positive reinforcement and it makes me want to give others the same courtesy.
