Sibling Awe

Sometimes I think with longing of the days when I only had one child. I had so much time. I taught five classes every day, had nearly four hours set aside for writing, kept my house clean (okay, so that's debatable), and still doted on my son like crazy.

I felt like my life was hectic. Ha! I was young and naive. Even as I struggle with my three, I am in awe of my friends with four or five who do what I do and more.

Sunday I had the unusual experience of my 18-month-old daughter waking up from her nap two hours prior to my boys. For the first half an hour, I thought, "This is so easy! Just me and her." I started thinking that before I have any more children, I need to make sure the others are in school so it's just me and one child at a time.

After about an hour of me and her, however, I started thinking I needed to wake up my middle child so she'd have someone to play with! It was exhausting to keep up with her energy level. And as much as I love sitting on the couch and bumping noses and giggling, every time I'd try to get up, she'd pull me back down. Oh, she's a cutie.

But I had a sudden appreciation for siblings. They play together, they fight together, they entertain each other, and they bond together. And that definitely helps me keep my sanity.

It's an ancient technique mothers all over the world have been using since the dawn of time. It's called diversion and it's effective LOL!

I'm taking notes! I'm adopting and the sibling thing will definitely be implemented in time!

Ha! This reminds me of my friend when she said she wanted to have another baby so child number one would have a playmate!

I'm looking forward to my first now, but will definitely be giving my little one some siblings... I'm worried about my writing time either way! (but I think it's worth the sacrifice ;))

Siblings are great for each other. I've reached the point in my life where I've got a senior graduating this year. It's weird to be at the other end--declining number of kids in the house.

Where did the time go! Seriously! It feels like yesterday I was juggling toddlers and preschoolers and all that stuff. I didn't write back then. I don't know how you find the time!

Cute kids!

Those kids are cute, but they're not mine! I'm reluctant to post pics of mine online, a least current, recognizable pictures.

I don't find time to write! Write? What's that?? Grrr....

Awwwwww :) That's so sweet. I remember those days. I still get it with Charlie and Chloe, but they get to go home. Awesome! lol My advise is make the most of these years, they soon go! Then they turn...Dare I say it?...Teen! :O

I don't have siblings, so I guess that's why I had 4 kids, because I knew how glad they would be to have each other. And they are. :)

It's hard to imagine right now that these years will go by quickly! I cannot wait for a built-in babysitter, LOL!

life is SO much easier with siblings... the kids might fight a little too, but mostly they entertain and play with each other!
