Did you know they have one? Deep in the heart of the Ozark Mountains in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, they have a writer's conference.
I'm so excited.
For me it's a fantastic deal because it's only an hour away. Believe me, I'd rather spend that hour driving than spend it on a hotel. And! My mom already said she'd keep my boys for the weekend. The whole weekend! (Little Tiny, of course, will have to come with me.)
I've been desperately wanting to network with local authors, and I think this is the best way.
Now, my question is--does anyone else want to come???
Come on, you can't pass this up. A conference in hillbilly land? Now that's something you want to see. (For all the important reasons why you should go to a conference, click here.) I know I've only met 1-2 other Arkansas authors, but the rest of you are willing to make the journey, right?
At $99 for two days, this conference is a steal. And next year I'll be there signing books.
If you're not coming to this one, which one are you going to? What's awesome and local for you?

I have yet to go to a conference. I'll bet it'll be great! Hillbillies and all.
:)
There's a little local conference here that I've been to once, and a bigger one in Dallas that I have yet to attend. I've been to LDStorymakers three years running, and have no plans to skip one any time soon.
The Ozark conference looks good. I thought it would be a little closer, but Eureka Springs is still a good 7-8 hours away.
Sounds like so much fun! A little too far from me, but fun :)
How fun this sounds! I lived in Ozark country from April to July 1962, at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri. Found a real hillbilly lady in the back woods one day with my first husband and a friend. Where is the Ozark conference from Ft. Wood? (So, how far away are you from having your baby?)
Hope it's productive. Hope you enjoy it!
oh Lydia, you need to get to one! they are so fun. you're welcome to come to this one! I'll put you up!
Ah, Don, what's 7-8 hours? No biggie! :) You should come!
I know how it is, Jemi. I'm excited though!
Let's see, Ann, from Ft. Lost in the Woods, it's about three hours. I'm a week out! Whoo-hoo!
If my hubby were going to be here to watch the kids, I would so go! I'm not lucky enough to have family near by to help out this time. Have fun and tell us all about it!
A week out! yippee! I'll bet you're ready.
Oh, Ralene! That's too bad! How far are you? Maybe my mom can watch your kids too!
I'm 4 hrs and 47 mins according to mapquest. That means you and I are probably only about an hour or so more away from each other. Who knew we were so close?
oh, you're in Kansas City! that means you're even closer to me. chop off an hour and a half. you're about three hours from me.
If you could get someone to watch your older kids... you and the baby could totally crash here w/ me and come along!
lol...we'll see. But hey, if we're only three hours from each other, we should make plans some Saturday to meet like halfway and have lunch or something.
Sounds like a fun conference and 99 bucks is a steal. If I wasn't several days away, I'd come. Have a blast.
Hey this sounds awesome! Can't wait to hear how it goes!
I've never been to a writing conference! It sounds like such fun - you'll have a blast!
it's not that far, huh,Mary? you could come too! Except what would you offer Adam this time? :)
I go to one in either North Dakota or Minnesota. Enjoy yours. It is so great to connect with local authors.
If I could, I would! I had a fantastic time at a conference here in London a few weeks ago.
yeah, Talli, you might find Arkansas just a little bit far away! :)
I'm still debating! Argh!!!!!
Oh, just do it!!! if you reserve online it's only $90--by August 27th!
All righty then! even shortstorybook.net can tell I'm an awesome writer! :)
