Description from The Story Siren:
What is the 2010 Debut Author Challenge?
What is the 2010 Debut Author Challenge?
- The objective is to read a set number of YA (Young Adult) or MG (Middle Grade) novels from debut authors published this year. I'm shooting for 30 books. I'm also going to include debut authors from 2009, because in my opinion, they are still debut authors. And I don't know all the authors yet-to-be-published in 2010!
- Anyone can join, you don’t need a blog to participate. If you don’t have a blog you can always share your views by posting a review on Amazon.com/BarnesandNoble.com/GoodReads/Shelfari, or any other bookish site.
- The challenge will run from January 1, 2010- December 31, 2010. You can join at anytime!
Here's where I'll be keeping track of the books I want to read for the 2010 Challenge. I don't know debut authors that well, so I'm stealing titles from other bloggers. Have a suggestion? Please tell me in the comments! Really, the only way I'll know if you're going to be a debut author is if you tell me! (And remember, if all goes well, I'll be a debut author this year when my book Perilous comes out!)
- Ghost Waves by W. Everett Prusso
- Heroes of the Fallen by David West
- Personal Demons by Lisa Desrochers
- The DUFF by Kody Keplinger
- Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver
- Sea by Heidi R. Kling
- Iron King by Julie Kagawa
- Wish by Alexandra Bullen
- Nightshade by Andrea Cremer
And the rest of the list is TBD (as I get suggestions...).

Sounds intriguing! I don't know if I've got enough extra reading time for 30 new authors, but I'm sure I can squeeze in a couple. I look forward to hearing which ones you think are the best so I can maximize my choices!
I have too many things going on to set a challenge for myself like this, but it's still a fun idea. Good luck to you. I do know that Andrea Cremer will be publishing her first novel this November. Maybe you can add that one to your late reading list.
Thanks soooo much for including PERSONAL DEMONS on your list! I'm buzzing all over! =)
You have some great books lined up! Andrea Cremer is my crit partner and her NIGHTSHADE is fabulous! You're gonna love it!
Keep us posted on your release!
Thank you so much for including Nightshade! This is such a great list of debut authors! Thanks Void and Lisa for the Nightshade love :)
Lisa and Andrea,
You're most certainly welcome! I'm quite excited to help support debut authors. It's so exciting to have your first book coming out, but also very nerve-wracking, wondering if anyone will even read it!
Anyone else to add? M. Gray, do you have a title yet???
Thanks for including SEA. :D
I like this challenge. Have you read Ghost Waves yet??
Mary, no I haven't. I'd include your name on the list, but I don't have your title!
Awesome list. Thanks for sharing Tamara!
