I gave it a good go. And I've gotten 42,000 words written.



It's not over yet. I'll get some more writing in today and see if I can't top that off around 44,000 words.

But I won't get 50,000 written. Even more, over the weekend I realized I wasn't too concerned with it. I couldn't figure out why until I discovered that with this book, I've finished the important stuff.

While the kids and I loved this cat, who is very sweet, fat, and well-mannered, he and my husband didn't get along. So after several months, I tearfully and guiltily took the cat back. I felt like such a bad mom.

But my husband was happier, and that's all that really mattered.

Saturday morning at 5 a.m., the cat came back.

Once she pointed out how often I used "jerk," I paid more attention. And I was shocked at the sight of that four-letter word popping up all over my MS.

Sometimes it grew. Awkward. That perfectly sums up this fun, easy teen read. I enjoyed this a lot! I giggled at the hilarious situations, and the romance was so fun! I cheered for our heroine. She's likable and believable...as far as time-traveling goes, anyway.

For Father's Day we made a miniature investment and bought a pair of kayaks. I planned to buy them last year, but when my husband got orders to deploy, I decided to wait. So this was a long planned expenditure. There was something exciting about loading the kayaks (one at a time, because we haven't invested in a rack yet) onto the top of the car and taking them home.

I love summer and everything that comes with it, but I do enjoy feeling cool in my own house. My solution: the basement. During the summer I spent 90% of my home time in the basement. I go upstairs to cook and sleep. But I'm about to nix the cooking option. But the scenes really let the reader get into the psyche of this multi-faceted bad guy who isn't your typical kidnapper. Most of the information in the following scene was conveyed in the novel from Jaci's POV, but here it is when we still had The Hand as a main character.
